History:
History of Khanadala states that the origin of the hill station is obscure. Khandala had been a part of Chattrapati Shivaji's empire. Shivaji was the great Maratha ruler, who is said to have organized the Marathas. After the Marathas, the territory of Khandala passed under the Peshwas.
The history of Khandala further states that territory was taken over by the British. The decline of the Peshwas led to the emergence of the British power in Khandala.

Geography:
Khandala and Lonavala are almost five kms away from each other. They are located on the west sides of the Sahyadris, spanning up to the Mumbai-Pune highway with a height of approximately 625 meters.

Weather:
Weather in Khandala is pleasant. Summers (April-June) are mild, while winters are cool (November-February). It experiences heavy southwestern monsoon rains between June and September.
